Six Free Movie Rentals to the person with the best list!

Okay, so here’s the deal.

Comment below with a list of SIX movies you would like to watch in the next ten days. You can give reasons behind each etc. Be sure they are in order of priority as well.

I’ll choose the one I like the best (feel free to give your input) and I’ll set up my blockbuster trial to ship to your address.  And you can enjoy some FREE movies.

let’s seem the list folks.

To Blockbuster or Not to Blockbuster

So, I have an important decision to make. (Zach your opinion is important here).  I’m planning on doing this purge of media intake (explained in earlier posts) for the month of February. But I have one problem. I’ve got this free trial of Blockbuster.com (like netflix) until Feb 11th.

So there are two options: 1) Keep the trail and stop movies after Feb 11th. 2) Give up the blockbuster trial and let someone else use the next ten days of it.

The reason I would like to keep the trial is there are movies on there I can’t get at the public library (particularly a bunch Zach recommended) and I don’t plan on paying however much it cost to rent them.

Of course if I don’t keep it that would mean one lucky winner will get free movie rentals for the next ten days.  Who wants it?

So, what’s your input?

What do you do with a four day weekend?

So, I wasn’t going to do it, but then I decided I might as well, a break would be good. I worked New Years and MLK day and so I was supposed to take two days of holiday in January. Monday and Tuesday off for me making this a FOUR day weekend.

I’ve got a small list of things I’d like to do in no particular order:
Clean and organize my desk, buy a bookshelf, clean the closet, cook a NEW recipe, podcast with Zach, podcast Mindy, read, read, write, write, watch some movies, Set my Febuary “purge” goals, do some webdesign, hang with Mindy, grocery shop, dumpster, talk to long lost friends, clean my room again.

Okay, time to go for now. if I get ambitious I might change the look of this here Xanga.

oh, and P.S. I got my prize money and software for the contest.

Cleansing my reading palate

I realize I’ve been reading a little too much. Now no one would say that’s a bad thing. My parents sometimes have a hard time with my sister because she’ll stay up for hours reading a book at night, and they don’t want to yell at her: “Quit reading!”
My problem is more what I am spending my time reading.  Let me start by saying that I LOVE reading nearly all of my Xanga subscriptions. I also enjoy reading my long list of blogs in my RSS Reader.  At the same time there is an ever growing list of books that I want to read. So, I’m fazing out the constant streams of reading coming at me.

I’ve cut my blog reading list down to just a couple of blogs, only one or two that post every day.  And drumroll please… I’m cutting down my xanga reading.
I used to pride myself on reading and commenting on every Xanga post in my subscriptions. I’m running out of time and energy to do that now. So, I’m setting some new criteria. Roughly this, I won’t be commenting and reading everything. The MAIN reason I started Xanga was to keep updated on close friends and I am refocusing that goal. My priority is now friends from Wheaton (and a few others that have snuck through). The trick to having me read something you posted is quite simple: Comment on my Xanga. If you comment on my Xanga I will click on yours and read the most recent post or two.

And that’s the deal. (offer subject to change without notice, products and participation may vary).

I might as well retire my thought provoking posting…

So, by some encouraging, and a bit of seeing a good friend do it, Mindy’s entered into the non-xanga blogging world. I’m not gonna say much else besides go and read her first post
RIGHT NOW.

More of Mindy

I know you all are you there. Cause I can see you’ve listened to Mindy’s little podcast. It’s fun and easy to do so I’m going to try and keep doing it. Here’s one from yesterday:

Do you have any questions?

I bought a copy of The Message (the bible translation) yesterday, don’t know if I’m fully behind it being a good purchase, but I was trying to read through the Bible in a year and I wanted to try The Message out. Doing it on the computer just wasn’t cutting it.  Hope I like it.

Listening to friends music on a lazy Sunday

So, I’ll keep listening to Robin’s Music (especially when I figure out how to get the mp3’s instead of on silly myspace). Cammie Sorenson is another friend of mine with music online. And then there are others I know. rnIt’s always neat to listen to friends music. Someone want to help Mindyrnput some music together? (not that she necessarily wants to, I justrnREALLY want her too).
rnIt’s a rainy and lazy Sunday. I missed the Geez Mag deadline so know upcoming pieces for a little while.  I’ve been overwhelmed by information intake. I’m trying my best to helprnwith the TennCare initiatives.  Attempting to podcast regularly withrnZach. Doing my best to clean the house (not doing very well).rnConstructing a Life Skills Monopoly Game (want to help?).  Getting morernand more addicted to Alexadex. And brainstorming ideas for newrnwebsites.  As well as talking to friends about Community. And I won $50. Recorded notes on The Tipping Point. And I might have gotten a little freelance web design job.

rnI need to pause more, pray more, sleep more, read more, love more, listen more.

But if you REALLY and I mean REALLY want to brighten your day. Hop over here:
My Odeo Channel
You will be glad you did. It’s ASK MINDY the podcast where I ask Mindy a question and she answers it for you and me. Got a question? post it here. Here’s a sample of the podcast:

Thoughts on Xanga amongst other things

So they have been adding a lot of features to xanga these days. I’d just appreciate a smaller banner ad up top. The new editor works pretty nice. I’ve just added a picture of the site I’m visiting right now, you should check it out and listen to the music. It’s my good friend, Robin Gibersonrobin
I think she even wrote a song about me, but just spelled it a little wrong, that’s okay, people spell my name wrong all the time when they write songs about me.
The Xanga editor seems to work pretty well.  I think the new dashboard thing they have is pretty lame, and I made it some my account uses the old version (the options in there somewhere).
So, seems like xanga posting from my close friends have slowed down quite a bit. The reason I joined this thing was to keep in touch with them, and that purpose seems to be slowly waining.  If your still out there give me a hollar sometime just so I know.

Life with me…Mindy is quite busy with school, trying to get caught up. We’ve got a small list of friends I really want to get together with, and hopefully we’ll be able to make that happen over some weekends. It snowed here on Tuesday and they cancelled school. People freak when there is snow I guess. It’s beautiful today and I’m planning on biking (I’ve been doing far less of it then I would have liked to). I finished reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad and I’ve been reading up on the stock market a little (found a good site for teachers to teach classes on it if your interested).  This could make for a great series of lessons, especially with kids so interested in money. I’ve been having oodles of conversations about community with different people. If you’d like to join that conversation let me know. Working on my Taxes, listening to famous speeches, going to read The Shame of the Nation, trying to catch up on my Bible in a Year stuff, on the look out for a bookshelf, strategizing on getting a VPU, sleeping sometimes, spending time with my lovely wife every minute I get.

Protected Post

I’m going to start some protected posts. Let me know if you would like to read them.
If you do I REQUIRE that you leave comments on them.

peace.

P.S. I just looked and I can only add 10 Members to my protected list. This means there will be an application and review process for all interested parties. Main Criteria are that you check your xanga on at least a bi-weekly (twice a week according to my brilliant wife, Mindy) basis and that you are liberal with your comments. You also most lean more towards critiquing everything I think, rather then just whole heartedly agreeing with me. You must also like watching native pigeon dances.
