Since the car talk got a lot of feedback I’ll stay on that topic.
rnStill no word on Mindy’s clinicals, that will be a deciding factor.

rnAbout an actual car.  The thing is on an enviromental andrncommunity level I don’t like using a car much.  If I’m living in arnplace that’s where I want to be, and start to be involved in thingsrnright around me.  That’s why we like to find churches withinrnwalking distance of us, unless there is some other compelling reason.

rnThe other thing about cars is the added expenses: Insurance everyrnmonth, licensing, paying for tabs, taking and passing the emissionsrntest, and then the dreaded Car repairs.  I’ve been convinced thatrnit doesn’t matter how new your car is there is a good chance you’llrnhave to get it fixed, and that is going to cost money.  Like ourrncar for example, if it was running we’d be in fine shape.  Sornmaybe I should look into getting it fixed?

rnDoes it make sense to have a car and a scooter?  If it does Irnthink I’d like to get our car working.  Maybe I’ll try to take ourrncar on Monday to work and just see if it makes it.  Who knows, rnmaybe it will.

Okay, we are getting to decision making time and I need some help.

rnWe’ve been considering a motor scooter, but I don’t want to jump intornit just yet.  I’ll give a brief run down of options and pros andrncons.

rnI can probably bike to work, which means I have no regular need for a car.
rnSupposedly the winters do get cold, so I might have to figure somethingrnout in the colder months, but for now we can assume I’ll bike yearrnround.

rnMindy finds out about her clinicals today. She might be able to walk, rnbut maybe she’ll need to drive, or car pool, or take the bus, or maybernbike.  So, this is a big factor.

rnThen there is the transportation options.  If we get a scooter asrnour only transportation we are limited: No long trips, can’t haul muchrnstuff, can’t really ride in the rain, and probably not in some of thernwinter.  That being said we might need a secondary transportation,rni.e. a car.  I don’t want a scooter as a novelty (like some peoplernhave Motorcycles they take out for fun on weekends), and at the samerntime maybe it is a good idea as far as gas, and enviromentally friendlyrneven if we do have a car for the other times.

rnFinally the car.  Our car works for about fifteen minutes and thenrndies.  That being the case, I could possibly drive it to and fromrnwork.  I’d like to maybe get it looked at and decide whether it isrnworth fixing or not.  We could sell the car and get a new one, rnthough we don’t have enough money to put down on a necessarily morernreliable car.

rnOur friends are letting us borrow a car right now.  They arerntrying to sell it and they’d let us buy it for cheap, and even makernpayments rather then one lump sum.  It seems reliable, though ifrnwe choose a car we might go a little cheaper and get a Honda.  Thernplus is that right now it’s licensed, passed emissions testing andrneverything so while it’s in their name it saves the hassle of somernpaper work.

rnSo what do we do? Wow, that was long sorry.  Options: Continuernborrowing then maybe go without, Get our car fixed, buy a scooter, orrnmaybe by a car, sell our car. HELP!

First day of work means you get some first impressions.
rnI got my Tennessee Driver’s License which took entirely too long. rnThen I worked from 11-3.  It seems like it’ll be fun, but rightrnnow I’m just trying to figure out my curriculum.  I thought therernwould be more layed out curriculum, but it doesn’t look like that willrnbe the case.  Guess I’ll be doing a lot on my own.  I won’trnstart working with the kids till I get fingerprinted and all that jazz.

rnMindy had a great first day.  We went to a BBQ with all the new nursing students which was pretty fun.

rnnuff for now.  Be sure to start checking out my other blog.
